The Dennis "DJ" Simmonds '08 Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of the late Dennis "DJ" Simmonds, Class of 2008. All proceeds will support scholarships for current Lasell College students.
A courageous member of the Boston Police Department, DJ was one of the officers involved in the Watertown shootout after the 2013 Boston Marathon, where he was injured. He passed away a year later.
DJ was a highly decorated police officer and was awarded a Top Cop award in Washington, DC, the Schroeder Brothers Memorial Medal as well as many commendations for his work with gang activity.
"It's about keeping his memory alive," DJ's sister Nicole Simmonds said. In his memory, this fund can continue his vision and commitment to the Boston community.
